This morning we drove out to Bourn Hall to collect my supply of Gonal-F and get a quick demostration of how to use the pen-style dispenser. No matter how small the needle is however, it is still a needle and I will still need to jab myself, myself and on my own this evening – Jon is working late shifts this week so won’t be home in time. I’m hoping though that it will be alright. Indeed, it better be since I’ve got to jab myself 6 evenings in a row initially, and then when I have my first scan and they see what the follicles are doing they can get me to take more, if I need it. The reason for the injections is to stimulate the follicles to produce eggs, its an alternative to taking Clomophine Citrate (Clomid) which is a pill. However, if there are too many follicles developingthey won’t carry on with the the treatment this cycle as they, understandably, don’t want to risk a high number of fetuses. Which is reasonable, it jsut means next month we try a lower dose.
