A few weeks after Amelia was born two uni friends of mine (one also went to secondary school with me) were in the country and dropped by with various goodies for Mimi and a bunch of flowers for me. This bunch of flowers has sat, in a vase mind you, on top of the CD (now kids’ movies) cabinet for the last 4 years. Until today that is when I had a mad impulse to “tidy”* a portion of the bookcases in the dining room and decided to move the attractive (and possibly valuable) books to a more central location.
The vase of desiccated flowers is currently, and temporarily, sitting on Mimi’s toy stove and will no doubt be removed tomorrow when she harangues me for its untidy aspect.
* Create new, alternative caches of clutter as part of the long march to unf*cking/decluttering our house which seems to shrink in size as Amelia grows.
