Busy Week

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

It has been a pretty busy week at Chez Still… Last weekend, hopped up on Diet Dr Pepper I made a major push towards getting my workroom sorted out, and its very nearly finished. The Monday was a Bank Holiday and also my 29th birthday so we spent most of the day with Jon’s folks and had a tasty lunch and all napped in the sunshine afterwards! Thursday was Jon’s 29th and so yesterday we provided tea, cake, but no death to the extended family. (We also gave the whole house a good clean - which included the opportunity for inhaling furniture polish)

But even better, Amelia has started to roll over. However, in a very quantum way we can’t (yet) observe it in progress, we’ve just answered the more miffed than usual cries and found her on her tummy in her cot. Last night when we were drying her off after her bath she was very nearly rolling over, so she had a better view of the bottles of Viakal and Flash that live (for now and not much longer) on a low shelf by the shower.

Also today Helen and I traipsed into London and Earl’s court to go to the International Jewellery London trade show. I returned with some fabulous beads, including matte crackle rock crystal, blue goldstone and Botswana  agate. Helen got a 17″ graduated strand of Rubies for an amazing price, which I am currently knotting.

Have shamelessly pilfered this post from my other site

Recently listed on Folksy is this fabulous Herringbone stitch cuff for £30.00. Roughly 6.5″ in length and finished with a gold-filled clasp it would look stunning on all skin tones and with many different coloured outfits.

Also when you purchase it and the co-ordinating earrings you will get a £6 refund via paypal, meaning that you get both items for £34 plus p&p.

Ok maybe one little post-let…

If anyone has ever wondered about my bead stash/collection…. wonder no more.

Although I do warn you that the room they are in is still in the process of being sorted out - its a bit hard to tidy when you can’t see your own feet let alone bend over….

Finally - Energy!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I am hoping that my friend Alice is right and that this recent burst of energy is a sign of impending baby-popping.

Today I not only single-handedly packed the “Bag For The Hospital” but have been furiously making earrings - and finding beads that I might have otherwise gotten rid of that I now know *exactly* what I’m going to do with them.

I also vacuumed the upstairs landing and our bedroom and I only had to break once to let my back recover.

Earlier in the day we popped into see Jon’s mum and stepdad - and I was very kindly fed some lunch - two bacon butties with brown sauce and it was  just the thing. I credit it as fuel for the rest of the day’s activity.

However, on a sadder note, Jon managed to break one of my favourite knitting needles :-( Already feeling bad because he had planned to pack the hospital bag and found that I had done it while he was distract by cups of tea, he was consoling himself with playing a drum solo on his knees with  said ancient needles - and envariably  the top two inches flung itself off of one.

He then spent about 5 minutes in the fetal position on the bed mooping! He hasn’t let it get him down too much as I told him that I had my eye on a set of knitting needles that he could get me for my birthday in August. Usually I ask for beads, and am rebuffed, and we had to call a moratorium on the DVDs so he is pleased with this arrangement.

Still can’t find the charger…
